Saturday 10th/Sunday 11th November: Armistice Day Centenary Event
Stoke St Michael Community Events Group have been awarded a grant of £4,700 from the Heritage Lottery Fund for an Armistice Day Centenary Event.
We are currently researching the 17 men who lost their lives in WWI conflict as well as exploring the heritage of the War Memorial Hall and looking at how the war affected village life and those who returned home from the war.
Craft projects and activities are planned involving many groups in the village and we will produce a book which will preserve our findings for prosperity.
On November 10th during the day there will be displays of photos, stories and memorabilia plus tea rooms at the Hall, followed by a Tea Dance on the evening.
There will also be a Service of Remembrance at 11am on November 11th. More details to follow
